Abstract ICT contributions to individual life long learning courses need a fair digital acculturation. Precisely, only School is able to support this kind of fair digital education. We propose to discuss this point of view through the analysis of the French training device X2I (B2i and C2i).

Abstract This article analyses the research works in French which were published in 2008 consecutively to the call for communications on the theme of access to education, initiated by the journal Distances et Savoirs, joined by five foreign journals. The author explores the contribution of the different articles to the five main themes by which they have been classified, and highlights their main interest. To conclude, she draws some lessons related to one of the leads proposed in the editorial of this special issue.
